DNS record lookup
Verify if your servers, custom emails, and verification records are correctly propagated.
What do these DNS records mean?
When you buy a domain and hook it up to an email host or a web server, you configure DNS records. It can take time for those changes to push globally. This tool fetches the live data directly from the Cloudflare public DNS resolver so you can verify exactly what the internet currently sees.
- A / AAAA: The actual IP address of the server hosting your website. A records handle IPv4, while AAAA records handle newer IPv6 addresses.
- MX: The mail servers authorized to receive emails for your domain. If this record is missing or misconfigured, you cannot receive mail.
- TXT: Text records usually used for security protocols like SPF and DKIM, or to verify ownership with services like Google Search Console.
- NS: Nameservers that dictate which company handles the routing for the domain.
Why a registrar and a DNS checker may disagree
If a domain returns no DNS records, it often means no one has set up hosting or email for it. This is a strong signal that the domain may be available to register.
However, a domain can be registered and simply parked without active DNS. Always confirm the final registration status directly with a registrar before assuming a domain is free to buy.
